Id say that some of the happiest moments for me as a teenager were the Christmas mornings that Id receive new motorcross gear from Santa. We always spent the holidays in the mountains, so Id get the new gear and then immediately go test it out. Im always amazed at the innovations in riding gear, compared to where it was twenty years ago.

Today, the motorcross gear is so high-tech, I might have broken a fewer bones out there if I had the high-grade plastics protecting me back then that they have now. The chest protectors, helmets, gloves, elbow pads, knee pads and shin protectors of today are much stronger, and lighter too! Somehow theyve managed to make stronger and more light-weight gear! I dont understand it, chalk it up to technology and innovation, but its exciting to put it on and know Im protected and able to maneuver my body at the same time.

The aerials that riders are capable of now are truly incredible. Goin to the track is more of an event than ever before. These guys at the tracks are doing flips in the air now, something that we could never conceive of, and they wouldnt be pushing the limits like that if the gear they wear wasnt superior to that of the old days.
